Why It Matters

Winner of the Prix Villégiature 2007 for the most beautiful hotel interior in Europe. One of very few 5-star hotels in Krakow, and arguably the most design-forward. Sits roughly 67 steps from the Main Market Square. Spa and pools are set in medieval vaulted cellars — one of the more dramatic wellness spaces in Central Europe.

A centuries-old merchant's house in the very heart of Krakow's Old Town, converted in 2006 into a 5-star boutique hotel with 78 individually designed rooms and suites. The interiors — Gothic vaulted ceilings, exotic wood, oriental carpets, hand-selected marble, natural silk — earned it first prize at the prestigious Paris contest Prix Villégiature for the most beautiful hotel interior design in Europe. Concrete details matter here: two restaurants, a Wellness & Spa zone carved into medieval cellars, two indoor pools, and a rooftop Sky Bar with views straight across the Main Market Square.
