Why It Matters
One of the few overwater bungalow properties in Europe. The entire resort is architecturally designed around the lagoon pool — a concrete waterway that winds between buildings, crossed by wooden bridges, dotted with palm-planted islets. Opened in 2017 and quickly became one of the most-shared resort images in Greece.
Stella Island is an adults-only (15+) five-star resort built around a massive, winding lagoon pool that snakes through the entire property. Every single room — whether you're in a standard pool-view room on the upper floor or an overwater bungalow with a hammock dangling above the water — has a pool view by design. The architecture is clean white lines and warm wood decks, and it genuinely does look like someone dropped a boutique Maldives resort on the north coast of Crete.
