Stilwell Hotel is a 42-room boutique property that opened in 2024 as Carmel-by-the-Sea's modern counterpart to the nearby Tradewinds Carmel — both operated by Lark Hotels. Where Tradewinds leans vintage and eclectic, this one is clean-lined and contemporary: hardwood floors, neutral tones, natural materials like linen and raffia, marble bathrooms with walk-in showers. The courtyard is the real social hub, with a custom-built wood-fired pizza oven, multiple fire pits, and a 20-by-18-foot living water wall. Foray, one of Carmel's most acclaimed fine dining restaurants, sits right on the ground floor.

White-sand Carmel Beach is under a mile on foot. Dogs are welcome off-leash at Carmel Beach — a big deal for guests with pets.

Pebble Beach Golf Links, the famous public-access course, is 2.9 miles from the hotel. Concierge can assist with tee times.
