Why It Matters
It's one of the few genuinely sustainable boutique hotels in the Spreewald, built from scratch in 2011 with regional timber and natural materials. It carries a Green Pearls eco-certification, has won the Relax Guide Spa Award, and the original site dates back to 1928 when a pastry chef served coffee and cake here. History plus a clear conscience.
Strandhaus Spreewald is a 20-room boutique hotel sitting directly on the Spree River in Lübben, inside the UNESCO Biosphere Reserve Spreewald — about an hour from Berlin. The hotel is a genuinely sustainable build from 2011 (opened 2012), constructed with regional timber and natural materials, and it shows: oak parquet floors, clean Scandinavian lines, and a calm Nordic palette run through every room. All guest rooms have either a balcony or terrace, and the river views are real, not marketing fluff. The onsite Strandhaus Spa, Strandcafé restaurant, beer garden, library, and riverside lawn make it easy to stay put — but the Spreewald's canal network is right on your doorstep.

30 sqm on the upper floor, river-facing, with a balcony. The elevated position gives you a better view across the Spree than the ground-floor Superior rooms. Same footprint and furnishings as the other doubles, but with a slightly better vantage point.

A natural sandy beach on a branch of the Spree River, just 100 metres from the hotel (accessible via the bridge behind the property). Open for swimming. No entry fee.
