Sunyata sits in the heart of Dali Old Town — 14 rooms tucked behind a Korean-run street café, built on just 390 sqm of former residential land. Designed by Zhaoyang Architects and completed in 2017, the whole thing is an exercise in making space feel abundant: eight concrete volumes arranged around two layered courtyards, a glass tea pavilion at the center, and not a single room quite like any other. Because there's nothing to look at outside, the architects turned everything inward, and it works.
