Swiss Diamond Hotel Lugano is a 5-star lakeside resort sitting right on the shores of Lake Lugano in the quiet hamlet of Vico Morcote, about 10 km south of Lugano's city center. The modernist building is oriented to face the lake and its views of the UNESCO-listed Monte San Giorgio — but go inside and it feels more like a classical Italian villa, with warm fabrics, paintings, and carpeted suites that wouldn't look out of place a few centuries ago. All 87 rooms and suites are generously sized; Classic Rooms face the courtyard (no lake view) while Superior category and above look out over the water.
