Why It Matters
The only full Taj-branded resort in the Delhi NCR corridor. Architecture deliberately references the 10th-century Surajkund stepwell next door. The recently completed rebrand from Vivanta brought in upgraded dining (Golden Dragon, Vista, Paranda) and an expanded J Wellness Circle spanning two floors.
Taj Surajkund sits about 11 miles south of New Delhi on the edge of the Aravalli foothills, far enough from the sprawl of Gurugram and Noida to feel genuinely resort-like. The building draws its shape from the Indian 'baori' — the ornate stepwell structure historically used as a social gathering place and cool-down spot — giving the tiered, garden-draped façade a character that most NCR hotels don't bother with. It's a recently re-imagined property: what was Vivanta by Taj has been overhauled and relaunched under the flagship Taj brand, with 287 rooms, four restaurants, and a two-storey spa.
