Tenuta Negroamaro
Rustic-chic / boho-chic masseria. Think slow-living Puglia filtered through a London design eye — organic materials, wild gardens, genuine farm activities, and a real farm-to-table kitchen. Not a resort, not a B&B. Something in between that skews boutique.

Why It Matters
Michelin Guide listed and featured on Tablet Hotels, Mr. & Mrs. Smith, and House of Hideaways. One of the few Salento properties with genuine agricultural credentials — a working vineyard, olive harvest, vegetable garden, and resident animals — alongside proper upscale suite design by a London studio. Plastic-free and committed to local sourcing.
A 10-suite upscale farm stay on a 7-hectare estate just 4 km from Gallipoli, opened in summer 2022. The interiors — designed by London-based Olga Ashby Interiors — borrow from the land itself: local Leccese and travertine stone, raffia rugs, rattan lamps, and crocheted wall hangings in muted earthy tones. Resident pigs, chickens, turtles, and a working vineyard set the pace. The estate is best known for its Negroamaro red wine, but the rest of what grows here ends up on your plate too.

On Property
How you'll actually spend your days.
On-estate and surrounding countryside bike trails. The terrain is relatively flat — typical of this part of Salento.
Rotating resident and visiting chefs host hands-on seasonal cooking classes — pasta-making, limoncello from waxy lemons, orange marmalade, and prickly pear-infused dishes. Classes conclude with a shared outdoor dinner.
The estate's Negroamaro red wine is what first put this tenuta on the map. Guests can walk the vineyard and participate in tastings of the estate wine and broader Salento wines.
Feed the resident pigs, chickens, and other animals; collect freshly laid eggs from the coops; check on the beehives for honey. The farm animals are a genuine draw — Maya the pig has her own fanbase among returning guests.
The hotel hosts occasional 5-day fitness retreats combining boxing, calisthenics, scenic hikes, and beach days. Check the What's On page for scheduled dates.
The kitchen garden is planted with aubergines, pomegranates, tomatoes, figs, citrus, and herbs. Guests can wander through, pick from the fruit trees, and sample directly from the beds.
Staff can arrange private boat hire for sea excursions beyond the sandy shores — useful given the coastline around Gallipoli and the Ionian sea.
The estate has a resident turtle pond. A low-key highlight, especially for guests with children.
Visiting yoga instructors host multi-day retreats at the property, typically running 5–7 days with morning and evening sessions in the pine-shaded yoga pavilion. Farm-to-table meals included. Check the What's On page for current dates.
