The Alpina Gstaad
Contemporary Alpine chic — modern luxury delivered through local craftsmanship. Think less ski-lodge, more design hotel that happens to be in the mountains. Serious art collection, serious wellness, and a cigar lounge with a walk-in humidor.

Why It Matters
Switzerland's first Six Senses Spa (2,000m²), three Michelin Keys, a Michelin-starred fine dining restaurant under Executive Chef Martin Göschel (transitioning to new chef Francesco Bartolomeis from summer 2026), and arguably the best Japanese whisky bar in the Alps. Built for CHF 337 million, it raised the bar for Swiss mountain hotels when it opened.
The Alpina Gstaad opened on December 1, 2012 — young by Swiss grand hotel standards, but its weathered timber façade reads as ageless. Inside, the vibe is crisp modern luxury wrapped in authentic Alpine craft: hand-built stone fireplaces, hand-carved wood ceilings, period-painted furniture, and a remarkable art collection. It holds three Michelin Keys and is home to Switzerland's first Six Senses Spa. All 56 rooms and suites have private terraces with Bernese Alps views, and the dining lineup spans award-winning Japanese to classic Swiss fondue.
