The Amelia Hudson
Quiet luxury meets art-forward country house. Think freshly restored Victorian bones with contemporary art (including Andy Warhol originals), colorful throws, and a commitment to good feng shui. Not a full-service hotel — no restaurant, no 24/7 front desk, no spa. More like staying at a wealthy friend's impeccably tasteful upstate home.
The weekday 'Stay Three, Pay Two' deal makes the otherwise steep rates much more reasonable for a longer trip.
Why It Matters
One of Hudson's most design-forward stays, featured in Travel + Leisure, AFAR, and Time Out NY. The property sits on over an acre — rare in this small city — giving it room for a pool and gardens that most competitors can't match. The owner's arts programming (classical music concerts, book readings, wellness retreats) gives it genuine cultural cred beyond mere good taste.
A 19th-century Queen Anne house on a quiet residential block in the small upstate city of Hudson, opened as a boutique hotel in June 2021 after an extensive renovation by owner Shannon Wu. Eight rooms and two grand suites spread across three floors, with pop art on the walls, Matouk linens on the beds, and a surprisingly large 35-foot seasonal pool out back surrounded by an English garden of roses, hydrangeas, and bluebells. Warren Street — Hudson's main strip of restaurants, galleries, and boutiques — is a two-minute walk away.
