A 100-room Ian Schrager-designed boutique hotel in Barcelona's El Born quarter, opened in 2018 inside a building fully transformed by Carlos Ferrater Studio. The look is gilded minimalism — walnut-panelled rooms, white Sivec marble bathrooms, embossed Spanish leather headboards, and a lobby chandelier by Eric Schmitt hanging over furniture pieces originally designed by Dalí and Gaudí. The bar and dining scene is genuinely good enough to pull in locals off the street, and the 10th-floor rooftop pool with panoramic views of the Gothic Quarter is one of the better perches in the city.
