The Blackpine Hotel takes its name from the pinus nigra — a hardy mountain tree found only at the highest elevations of the Andorran Pyrenees — and runs with it completely. Walls, ceilings, and floors throughout all 17 rooms are lined in that golden-hued wood, giving the whole building a sculptural, carved-from-the-mountain quality that genuinely sets it apart. It's also Andorra's first LEED v4 BD+C certified hotel, with an eco-conscious approach baked into everything from construction to daily operations. Right on the main Plaça Coprínceps in Escaldes-Engordany, it's equal parts alpine retreat and city-center base for Andorra's skiing, hiking, and notorious duty-free shopping.
