The Brecon is a 22-room adults-only Alpine retreat that opened in July 2024 inside a timber building originally constructed in 1914 — the same place that was the glamorous Waldhaus of the 1950s and '60s. Today it runs a genuinely all-inclusive model: every meal (à la carte breakfast, afternoon tea, dinner), all drinks including wine and cocktails, and the spa are folded into your room rate. The design, by Amsterdam-based studio Nicemakers, leans into mid-century modernism with wood panelling, earthy textiles, and art from Amsterdam's Bisou gallery — warm and specific, not generic Swiss chalet.

Double rooms in quieter parts of the building, each with a balcony looking out over the forest and mountains. A Forest Cosy was specifically praised in reviews for its balcony view over the heated plunge pool.
Mountain Cosy
Double rooms with balconies facing the Lohner mountain range. Centrally positioned in the hotel and at the edge of the village — good views without being right at the top of the building.
Mountain Loft
Expansive duplex suite at the top of the building with two en-suite bedrooms and a large balcony with panoramic Lohner mountain chain views. Works for two couples or a group of up to four adults.
Village Cosy
Quietly positioned double rooms on the village side. Designed for guests who want privacy and a tucked-away feel rather than front-and-centre mountain drama. Calm, comfortable, and the most affordable entry point.
Village Loft
Top-of-the-house suite for up to two guests, with a working fireplace and a balcony looking toward Bunderspitz mountain, Adelboden village, and the Lohner mountain chain. The fireplace sofa setup is the best spot in the hotel for defrosting after the slopes.
Waterfall Corner
Spacious corner double rooms with not one but two balconies, positioned to catch the views towards Wildstrubel and Engstligenalp. The dual-aspect position makes these feel considerably larger than the standard doubles.
Waterfall Loft
Top-floor suite with two balconies and panoramic views over the Wildstrubel, Chuenisbärgli ski course, and the Engstligen waterfall. The loft layout spreads into the eaves — a genuinely spacious Alpine hideout.
Waterfall-Forest Loft
Top-floor combination suite — the Waterfall Loft extended with a Forest Cosy room — giving two en-suite bedrooms, multiple balconies, and a mix of forest and panoramic mountain views. Ideal configuration for three or four guests who want the full loft experience.

Each January, Adelboden hosts the Alpine World Cup slalom and giant slalom races on the Chuenisbärgli course, viewable from the village. One of the most exciting events on the ski race calendar.
