The Celestine New Orleans
Retro European meets Afro-Caribbean with 1950s glamour — eclectic, richly detailed, intimate. Cocktail-culture obsessed. The hotel leans hard into its history without feeling like a museum.
The Courtyard King with Tub rooms on the second floor offer the best balance of quiet and views — get a tub room over the courtyard if possible
Why It Matters
Awarded a Michelin Key and named to Condé Nast Traveler's 2024 Hot List of Best New Hotels in the World. The building has direct historic ties to the creator of Peychaud's Bitters — the ingredient that makes a Sazerac a Sazerac. One of the few small luxury hotels to open in the French Quarter in years.
A 14-room boutique hotel inside a building that dates to 1791 on Toulouse Street, half a block from Bourbon Street. The Celestine launched in early 2024 from hotelier Robért LeBlanc and cocktail guru Neal Bodenheimer of Cure Co., with Sara Ruffin Costello handling the interiors. The result is something that feels like a very stylish friend's French Quarter apartment — think curated antiques, four-poster beds, calming patterns, and personalized in-room wet bars stocked with Sazerac Rye and local bitters. Peychaud's, the hotel's cocktail bar, is the real social anchor: it occupies the courtyard where Antoine Amédée Peychaud, creator of Peychaud's Bitters, once lived.
