Why It Matters
Ormond Hotels' first design-led property and arguably the first properly curated luxury boutique hotel in KL's Chow Kit neighbourhood. Named to the New York Times 52 Places to Go in 2020, won World Travel Awards 2024 Malaysia's Best Boutique Hotel, and selected by the Michelin Guide. The building formerly served as a hospital and budget hotel before Post Company reimagined it entirely.
A 113-room boutique hotel on the edge of KL's old Chow Kit district — once notorious for gambling dens and a red-light scene that's now mostly faded into legend. New York firm Post Company designed the interiors to channel that history without overdoing it: timber floors, fringed curtains, brass accents, and moody lighting that nods to late-night revels of the 70s and 80s. The food program is the real anchor. The Chow Kit Kitchen & Bar is genuinely excellent, worth a visit even if you're not staying.
