The College Green Hotel
Grand Irish heritage meets restrained contemporary luxury. Historic bones — marble pillars, crystal chandeliers, vaulted bank ceilings — balanced with calm, pared-back modern rooms. The Banking Hall is unabashedly opulent; the guestrooms play it cooler.
Book afternoon tea in The Atrium Lounge well in advance — it fills up fast, especially on weekends
Why It Matters
One of the best positions in central Dublin, literally across the road from the gates of Trinity College. The building itself is the attraction — a trio of 1860s bank buildings with intact architectural drama at every turn. The Atrium Lounge afternoon tea has become a Dublin institution, and The Mint Bar in the original bank vaults is one of the more characterful hotel bars in the city.
Spread across three connected 19th-century banking buildings directly opposite Trinity College, The College Green Hotel is one of Dublin's most architecturally striking addresses. Formerly The Westin Dublin, it rebranded under Marriott's Autograph Collection in October 2023. The interiors weave old and new together well — think a soaring five-storey glass-roofed atrium flooded with natural light, original granite bank vaults now pouring cocktails as The Mint Bar, and 191 rooms finished in Donegal linen and custom Irish-coastline carpets. No pool or spa, but the location is hard to beat and the dining lineup has genuinely stepped up.
