Why It Matters
A designated Palm Beach town landmark since 2020, open since 1947, and one of the most-photographed hotels in Florida. The Wetenhall family's multi-year Kemble Interiors restoration kept the retro character intact while adding LAFCO bath amenities and Matouk linens. Swifty's, the beloved NYC restaurant, relocated poolside here in 2019. The hotel also features a rotating collection of designer-decorated villas created with Goop/Gwyneth Paltrow, Aerin Lauder, Mark D. Sikes, and Serena & Lily. The Colony is Palm Beach's pinkest landmark — a 1947 Colonial-style hotel that has hosted Judy Garland, Frank Sinatra, and visiting royalty, and still draws a well-dressed crowd to its poolside. Designated a town landmark in 2020 and owned by Andrew and Sarah Wetenhall, it sits exactly at the midpoint between Worth Avenue's boutiques and the Atlantic Ocean. Current owners commissioned Kemble Interiors to redesign every room with scalloped headboards, bold color stories, and wicker accents — and the resulting social scene feels more like a members' club than a standard hotel.

Bigger than the Standard rooms and with more elevated views, the Premium rooms feature fresh beachy-botanical patterns and colorful prints. These are the sweet spot for couples who want a bit more breathing room without committing to a full suite. Available in king or two full beds.

Sun-filled and sweet, these are the entry-level rooms — and yes, they're small (around 180 sq ft). But what they lack in square footage they make up for in personality: Kemble Interiors splashed them with bold fabrics, wicker furniture, and color stories inspired by Palm Beach flora. Available in king, queen, two full beds, or two twin configurations.

Refreshed by AD100 designer Mark D. Sikes in his signature blue and white palette — classic and timeless without being stuffy. At 1,000 sq ft it's the most compact of the villas, but the interiors punch above the footprint.

The Wetenhall family's own interpretation of Palm Beach style, recently refreshed by owner Sarah Wetenhall herself. Original terra-cotta floor tiles, a carved cement fireplace, private terrace and yard, and an antique 1922 fountain in the central courtyard. Two bedrooms with en-suite baths, open-plan living/dining room, and kitchen.

Designed by Aerin Lauder, debuted January 2021. Pale pinks, greens, and blues against white — the palette evokes Palm Beach architecture without screaming about it. Original old-growth pecky cypress doors and a carved fireplace. Direct private entrance, two master bedrooms, two full baths, kitchen, and living/dining spaces opening to a fountained courtyard.
