Dean Galway
Riotously colorful, design-obsessed boutique with a music-and-art soul. Feels more like a creative clubhouse than a traditional hotel — curated Irish art everywhere, a buzzy NYC-imported comfort-food restaurant downstairs, a proper Irish pub tucked off the lobby, and a serious boutique gym in the old railway tunnel. Fun-first, with genuine warmth.

Why It Matters
Galway's first design-led boutique hotel. Incorporates historic 1890s railway tunnel architecture into the fitness club. Houses the first-ever Elephant & Castle restaurant in the west of Ireland. Part of the Tablet Hotels / Michelin Guide hotel collection. Curated art program (Sync & Swim) champions local and Irish artists throughout.
Galway's first design-led boutique hotel, The Dean opened in a 5,000 sqm building that cleverly incorporates an 1830s stone structure and a section of the original 1890s Galway-to-Clifden railway tunnel — you can see the vaulted brickwork from the gym floor. Bold, art-filled rooms come loaded with Smeg mini-fridges, Marshall speakers, and Nespresso machines; suites add Rega turntables and Martin acoustic guitars. Above it all sits Sophie's rooftop restaurant and bar with sweeping panoramic views across Galway and the Atlantic coast.
