The historic 1907 Italian Renaissance-style palazzo (40-foot ceilings, arched windows, antique mirrors) connects to a 24-story modern tower built by the Ohebshalom family, who have owned the site since the late 1970s. Together they hold 153 rooms and suites designed in a romantic bohemian palette of greens, pinks, and yellows by Martin Brudnizki, whose past work includes Annabel's in London. And then there's Café Carmellini downstairs — a James Beard Award-winning chef's return to fine dining that immediately became one of the city's most talked-about restaurants.
