Why It Matters
One of London's oldest continuously operating boutique hotels (est. 1892), with 50 individually decorated rooms crammed with antiques and period pieces. The Tudor Suite — with its 15th-century minstrels' gallery, mahogany four-poster, and Portland stone fireplace — is regarded as one of the finest hotel bedrooms in London. Bar 190 is a bona fide piece of rock 'n' roll history.
The Gore has been operating out of two joined Victorian townhouses on Queen's Gate since 1892. Every room is individually furnished with antiques, period photos, and ornate carved beds — no two rooms look alike, which is the point. It sits around the corner from the Royal Albert Hall in South Kensington, with Hyde Park a short walk away, Harrods a bit further. Bar 190 is where the Rolling Stones held the Beggars Banquet launch party in 1968, and that energy still lingers.

Cosy Double Room
The entry-level double at The Gore. Compact bathroom, double bed, and that signature English heritage decor with antique accents. Originally conceived for the Victorian metropolitan traveller. Don't expect a lot of floor space, but you get all the atmosphere.
Cosy Single Room
A plush single bed with an elegant bathroom and all essential conveniences. Compact but full of character. Good option for solo travellers who want the Gore experience without paying for space they don't need.
Deluxe Room
Uniquely furnished with antiques, ornate gilt mirrors, and chandeliers. Every Deluxe boasts either an oak-carved four-poster or half-tester bed. Bathrooms include a combined bathtub with shower and Penhaligon's toiletries. Cannot accommodate an extra bed.
Junior Suite
Several named suites fall into this category, each designed around a notable historical figure: Dame Nellie Melba, Dame Edith Evans, Miss Ada Cook, Miss Fanny Cook, Lady Blessington, Queen Victoria, and Queen Elizabeth. All are swathed in rich fabrics, antique treasures, and theatrical details. Some feature a sofa convertible to a single bed for a third guest.
Junior Suite Judy Garland
Judy Garland's own bed — reportedly sent from Hollywood — sits beneath silk wallpaper that complements the gilded frame. The Ruby Slippers from The Wizard of Oz are kept in this room. It's more shrine than suite, but the personal connection to Garland's talent and history is genuinely extraordinary.
Superior Room
Stunning furniture, art, and a unique antique carved bed. All rooms are equipped with bathtubs. Two superior rooms come with separate beds. A solid step up from the entry rooms with a notably opulent feel.
Tudor Suite
The most theatrical room in the building — possibly in London. This is the last remaining room of the original Elizabethan Rooms that opened in 1953 amid the Tudor Revival craze. It has the original 15th-century minstrels' gallery, high oak-beamed ceilings, a decorative Portland stone fireplace, stained-glass windows, candelabras, and a sumptuous mahogany four-poster bed. Classic British Sunday Lunch at 190 Queen's Gate, served 12:30pm–3:00pm. Seasonal produce from surrounding counties.
