Why It Matters
Recognised as one of the world's top eco-hotels and winner of the AA Eco Hotel of the Year 2012–13. The in-house Arbor restaurant has held 2 AA Rosettes for over 12 consecutive years under chef Andy Hilton. One of the most serious sustainability commitments of any small UK hotel — over 100 environmental measures in place, including 4 new EV chargers installed in 2025.
A Grade II listed Victorian villa that opened as a boutique hotel in April 2010 after an 18-month eco-minded refurbishment. The exterior is all period charm — bay windows, red brick, leafy street — but inside, sustainability runs through every decision: storm-felled solid wood furniture, 100% wool carpets, FSC-certified wallpaper, Farrow & Ball eco paint, solar water heating, and a combined heat-and-power unit. Thirty-two rooms, a 2 AA Rosette restaurant, and a wine list that's fully organic and biodynamic. No pool, no spa, but that's not what this place is about.

How you'll actually spend your days.
Classic afternoon tea made fresh to order by the on-site pastry chef Ella. Served daily 2–4pm in the bar. A good option for non-residents too.
Secure on-site bicycle storage available for guests. Bournemouth's coastline and the surrounding Dorset countryside offer good cycling routes.
Guests receive discounted entry to a local gym a 5-minute walk from the hotel. No on-site gym or pool at the property itself.
The hotel maintains an on-site community vegetable garden where spent coffee grounds from the bar are composted. A small but charming feature that reflects the hotel's sustainability ethos.
The Green House is a licensed wedding venue and hosts private events in its event spaces. Popular on weekends; the basement space is used for the lively portion of celebrations.
