THE HIRAMATSU HOTELS & RESORTS Ginoza
Quiet luxury. Think ryokan-level attentiveness meets serious French gastronomy. Interiors are dark hardwood floors, European antiques, George Nakashima furniture, and original lithographs by Toulouse-Lautrec and Matisse. It reads like a privately curated art residence that happens to also serve exceptional food.
The French restaurant is open to non-hotel guests for dinner from 5:30pm — book via TableCheck well in advance
Why It Matters
One of the most awarded small hotels on Okinawa's quieter east coast. Awarded One MICHELIN Key in the MICHELIN Guide Hotel Selection 2024 and 2025, and 3 Toques in Gault & Millau 2026 for the fourth consecutive year. Only 19 rooms across a 21,000m² grounds on a private peninsula. The French restaurant open to non-hotel guests is a genuine destination in its own right.
A serious gourmet resort on Okinawa's underdeveloped east coast, sitting on its own peninsula with grounds covering over 21,000m². Just 19 rooms and villas — all facing east, all with terrace jacuzzis — spread across a gentle hillside above the Pacific. The food is the main event: Chef Yoshinobu Kinoshita's French kitchen has earned Gault & Millau 3 Toques four years running and a Michelin Key two consecutive years. But the quiet, the sunrises, and the art-hung interiors make a compelling case even without the plates.

On Property
How you'll actually spend your days.
The hotel arranges professional photography sessions on the grounds — particularly popular for couples, anniversaries, and honeymoons given the ocean backdrop and villa settings.
The hotel sits directly adjacent to Ginoza Beach — a natural, undeveloped stretch home to hermit crabs and occasional sea turtles. Not a private beach (no swim zones marked, no parasols), but perfect for early morning walks. The full moon casts a glittering path across the water visible from the beach. Open 6am–10pm (no artificial lighting).
The hotel arranges access to multiple excellent golf courses near Ginoza, many with Pacific Ocean views. Special hotel services include the option to substitute café lunch for the usual breakfast on golf days. Reservations open 4 months ahead; peak season November–March. Summer rounds best booked early morning.
The resort's centrepiece pool creates the illusion of merging with the sea and sky. Best used for sunrise watching — staff recommend arriving at the poolside about 30 minutes before dawn to catch the full colour show. Open for swimming spring and summer; poolside relaxing available in cooler months. Seasonal — typically open April through October.
The hotel can arrange private performances of traditional Okinawan performing arts exclusively for in-house guests. Unique cultural experience rarely available in a private resort setting.
Regular weekly and occasional events including tastings of locally made sweets and rare aged awamori spirits, traditional Okinawan cultural experiences, and yoga lessons. Schedule varies; check with hotel at time of booking.
Guided access to the primeval Yambaru forest region — UNESCO World Heritage listed. Mangroves, ancient trees, rare wildlife. A very different Okinawa from the beach-and-coral experience most visitors expect.
