Certified 5 Green Star by the NZ Green Building Council — the first and only hotel in New Zealand to achieve this. Over 90% of construction waste was reused or recycled, the building produces 50% fewer greenhouse-gas emissions than the NZ minimum standard, and organic cotton sheets and certified organic staff uniforms are the norm. One of two suites hidden in a glassy pavilion built atop the century-old Buckland Building next door — accessed through level five of the main hotel. Both the bedroom and living room open onto a 28 sqm private terrace with views across heritage rooftops to the city and Takutai Square. The biggest suite with a terrace on the top floor. A half-day guided experience (9am–2:30pm on Wednesdays) to a native forest farm in the Waitākere Ranges. Guests forage with an expert, cook a forest-to-table lunch over an open fire in a glasshouse, learn about ecological and indigenous practices, and plant a native sapling. Part of the hotel's sustainability programme. Now offered with an overnight stay at the hotel. Electric vehicle transfer available as an add-on at NZD $110 per person return.
