The Hotel Melrose is the last of downtown Grand Junction's twelve original 1908 hotels — all the others are gone. Built by the Ponsford duo and fully reimagined in recent years, the 16-room property leans hard into a moody Western aesthetic: navy walls, brass sconces, iron bed frames, leather bolsters, and mounted antlers. But the technology is entirely now: keyless entry, digital concierge, no front desk, your phone does everything. The on-site Melrose Spirit Co. cocktail bar throws a curveball with a tiki-inflected vibe sitting right beside all that Western grit.

The most budget-friendly room in the house — a single queen in a cozy first-floor suite. Interestingly, at 245 sq ft it's actually larger in footprint than the king rooms, though with only one bed. Comfortable queen bed, private lavatory, kitchenette, and the same design-forward aesthetic throughout the hotel.

Cattleman's Twofold (Deluxe Double Queen)
The deluxe version of the double queen adds lofty ceilings to the package. Also the ADA-accessible option — the hotel has one specially designed accessible room. Two queen beds, spacious feel courtesy of the high ceilings, full kitchenette, private lavatory, writing desk. Worth requesting if you want the roomier feel.
2 QueensKannah Creek Suites (Standard King)
First-floor king suites named after the nearby Kannah Creek. Regal and composed — king bed, private ensuite bathroom, individual kitchenette, climate control, and a desk in select rooms. At 205 sq ft these are compact but well-designed; every inch is intentional.

First-floor double queen rooms that sleep up to four. Slightly larger than the king rooms at 245 sq ft, these are the most versatile option for small families or friends traveling together. Two queen beds, well-equipped kitchenette, private lavatory, and writing desks in select rooms.
2 QueensPonsford Suites (Deluxe King)
Named for the original builders of the 1908 Melrose. The upgrade over the Standard King is the tall ceilings — they make the same 205 sq ft feel considerably more generous. Sumptuous king bed, private lavatory, well-appointed kitchenette, climate control, writing desk in select rooms.
