Why It Matters
Dallas's only Forbes Four-Star hotel and spa for four consecutive years. The 8-foot cantilevered pool over Main Street is genuinely unlike anything else in the city. The hotel anchored the renaissance of downtown Dallas when it opened in 2008 and remains its cultural epicenter — across the street from Neiman Marcus flagship, adjacent to the Arts District.
The Joule lives inside a 1920s neo-Gothic landmark that used to be the Dallas National Bank. A decade of renovations turned it into one of the few genuinely interesting luxury hotels in Texas — Forbes Four-Star, museum-caliber art collection, a cantilevered rooftop pool that hangs eight feet over Main Street, and a dining scene that draws non-guests. The building is the whole point: the bones are dramatic and the design by Adam D. Tihany layers contemporary luxury over them without erasing the history.
