Knot Sapporo
Urban-rustic lifestyle hotel. Think big-city design with deliberate nods to Hokkaido's wilderness: local cedar, soft stone, après-ski lounge energy, and DJ sets on Saturday nights.
The hotel connects to Pole Town underground shopping mall via the B1 elevator — key during Sapporo winters when temperatures drop well below zero
Why It Matters
One of only a handful of design-forward boutique hotels in central Sapporo that takes the local material culture seriously, picked by Michelin Guide and Tablet Hotels. The building's retail tenants — Human Made Sapporo, Senshuan confectionery, Seicomart — make it a genuine local hang, not just a hotel.
The Knot Sapporo opened in August 2020 in the Susukino district, right on Tanukikoji shopping street with direct underground access to Sapporo's subway network. The design concept is 'Modern & Nature' — corridors lined with wallpaper printed with auroras and light waves, guest rooms featuring nanseki soft stone side tables and Donan Japanese cedar walls in the larger categories. It functions as a neighborhood lounge as much as a hotel: the lobby-level LES BOIS is open morning to late night, Human Made Sapporo occupies retail space in the building, and there's a Seicomart convenience store on-site. Rooms are compact by Western standards — the entry-level Standard Queen starts at just 16㎡ — but the design is considered and the location is genuinely excellent.
