Lalit London
Indian opulence layered over Victorian scholastic grandeur. Think deep cobalt blues, gold accents, ornate chandeliers, dark wood paneling, high ceilings, and a Lord Ganesha idol at the entrance. Warm and inclusive — the hotel is openly LGBTQ+ friendly and prides itself on hospitality rooted in Indian traditions of service.
The minibar is genuinely complimentary — help yourself to the Nespresso, water, and snacks without worrying about the bill
Why It Matters
It's The LaLiT group's first property outside Asia and it swings for the fences. Baluchi, the in-house restaurant, holds 2 AA Rosettes and has been ranked in the top 15 restaurants in all of London on TripAdvisor. The building itself — a Grade II listed neo-baroque former school steps from Tower Bridge — is genuinely unlike anything else in the London hotel landscape.
A converted late-Victorian grammar school on London's South Bank, where the architecture of E.W. Mountford's 1890s neo-baroque building meets the full-throttle Indian opulence of The LaLiT Hotels group. Eye-popping cobalt blue interiors, soaring ceilings, and staff in traditional Indian garb make it immediately clear this isn't your standard London heritage hotel. Founded as St. Olave's Grammar School in 1561 and in use until 1967, the building reopened as a 5-star boutique hotel in 2017 — 70 rooms spread across three levels, from entry-level Cosy Classrooms to the grand LaLiT Legacy Suite.

An Indian-inspired take on the traditional British afternoon tea. Aromatic Masala Chai paired with savoury bites and sweet treats — all infused with Indian flavours. Served at The Terrace or in Baluchi.
