Leddie
Relaxed Scottish elegance — think village inn done properly. Stone facade, wood-panelled interiors, a glass-fronted whisky cabinet, vintage board games, and a roaring lounge fireplace. Warm without being fussy. Design-led without being cold.
Ask for Room 1 (front-facing Deluxe with three sash windows over the high street) or Room 8 (Junior Suite, 28 sqm, feels like a small studio)
Why It Matters
Opened 2024 and immediately picked up The Times Top 100 Places to Stay in the UK, East Lothian Hotel of the Year 2025, National Hotel of the Year Scotland Region Winner 2025, and an AA Rosette for culinary excellence. Part of the Marram Collection alongside the Bushmills Inn. The name revives the original Scots word for the local river running through Aberlady.
The Leddie is a 27-room, 4-star boutique hotel in Aberlady's high street, built in 1638 and formerly known as The Duck's Inn. A multi-million-pound refurbishment in 2024 by Wirefox — the Northern Irish private investment company behind The Marram Hotel Collection — stripped the building back and restored it, landing a palette of mossy greens, red leather, wool throws, and eclectic Scottish-inflected artwork. The restaurant under Head Chef Lewis Lane has already earned an AA Rosette and become a genuine destination in its own right.
