Lince Braga
Nature-forward contemporary wellness retreat with a quiet monastic undertone. Think forest silence over city buzz. The property leans into slowness — walks through oak woods, spa mornings, regional wine at dusk.
Ask for a room with a terrace — they're only 25 sqm but the mountain views make them worth the upgrade
Why It Matters
Listed on both the Michelin Guide and Tablet Hotels. Built on the ruins of a late-18th-century Franciscan convent, with original architectural remnants preserved inside. The Altus Wellness Spa is a legitimately complete setup — indoor pool, Turkish bath, ice bath, sauna — at a price point well below comparable urban spa hotels.
The Lince Braga sits on the Serra da Falperra hillside, about 5 km (10-minute drive) from Braga's historic center. The hotel was built on the ruins of an 18th-century Franciscan convent — a centenarian oak avenue lines the approach, and remnants of the convent's stone walls, religious icons, and an original chapel are visible throughout the interior. The contemporary redesign strips things back: clean lines, natural materials, soft neutrals, and parquet floors. The Altus Wellness Spa is the centerpiece, with a wood-panelled interior, indoor pool, Turkish bath, ice bath, and sauna.
