Why It Matters
The only ski-in/ski-out hotel in Aspen and the only property in town to hold both Forbes Five-Star and AAA Five-Diamond designations — every single year since the early 1990s. Element 47 is Michelin Guide-recommended. The spa is the only ski-in/ski-out spa in the Rockies. Winter-exclusive experiences like SnowCat Powder Tours and First Tracks before the mountain opens to the public are genuinely rare.
The Little Nell has held Aspen's only Five-Star, Five-Diamond designation since opening in 1989 — a streak now past 30 years with Forbes Travel Guide. It sits right at the base of the Silver Queen Gondola, which means ski-in/ski-out access that isn't marketing spin: you can literally click into your skis steps from the front door. The 92-room property is owned by Aspen Hospitality (the parent company of Aspen Snowmass) and is a Relais & Châteaux member, with a wine cellar program that's won the Wine Spectator Grand Award and a Michelin-recommended restaurant on-site.

600 sq ft rooms facing Aspen Mountain or the hotel's courtyard and pool. Same finishes as Town Side — heated marble floors, gas fireplace, soaking tub, Fili D'oro linens. The views here are the main event: you wake up looking directly at the ski runs. Available as one king or two queens.
King or Two QueensOne Bedroom Suite
The one-bedroom suites step up to a more residential layout — separate living and sleeping areas with an uncluttered, contemporary feel. Available in Town Side and Mountain Side orientations. Suites may include a Bryte Balance smart mattress, Jacuzzi, and steam shower.
Paepcke Suite
The premier suite in Aspen and the hotel's largest at 2,500 sq ft. A sweeping private balcony takes in the entire base of Aspen Mountain: the gondola, Ajax Tavern's patio scene, and the runs above. One bedroom but an enormous floor plan. Named for Walter Paepcke, the industrialist who founded the Aspen Institute and essentially invented modern Aspen. This is the one to book for a milestone trip.
KingPfeifer Suite
The only three-bedroom Luxury Suite at 2,000 sq ft. Two slopeside balconies on either side survey the Little Nell ski run directly. Lavish for a family or small group wanting suite-level service without taking the entire Paepcke floor.

26 rooms averaging 660 sq ft, most with vaulted ceilings and balconies. Available in Town Side and Mountain Side orientations. The extra space and ceiling height make a genuine difference — these feel closer to a suite than a standard room. Same luxury finishes throughout.

1,250 sq ft, one bedroom. Described as simple, authentic elegance with 'many shining facets.' Part of the Aspen Modern renovation series, with custom furniture, woven wall coverings, and a private balcony. Must be requested by phone.
KingTown Side Guest Room
All 600 sq ft Town Side rooms overlook the Red Mountain range, Continental Divide, or Durant and Spring streets. Available as one king or two queen beds. Every room has a gas log fireplace, dual Caesarstone vanities, heated Crème de Marfil marble flooring, Fili D'oro down bedding, and a separate soaking tub plus shower. Walnut trestle desk and original contemporary art on the walls. Complimentary non-alcoholic minibar refreshed daily.
