Twenty-two private hardwood-and-stone cabins spread across 400 acres of Caribbean rainforest, right on the doorstep of Pico Bonito National Park. The lodge punches well above its size — it has pulled National Geographic Adventure, Audubon, Travel + Leisure, Condé Nast, and the Michelin Guide. But it's the birds that really sell it: 187 species recorded on the property alone, 400-plus in the surrounding park, and the lodge partners with BirdLife International and Motus.org for serious conservation credibility. Designed for student groups, researchers, and eco-adventurers — these are the most affordable option. Comfortable and practical, not stripped down. Hardwood floors, screened windows, private bathroom with shower, and ceiling fans. No in-cabin Wi-Fi but lodge common areas have connectivity. Private porch with jungle views. Can accommodate 2–3 guests.
Mixed (bunk/twin beds + one matrimonial bed)
Premium DD Cabin (Two Queen Beds)
The most plentiful cabin type — 16 units spread across the property, each with two queen beds. Good for families, travel partners, or anyone who wants extra space. Same jungle-meets-rustic aesthetic as the King cabins, with hardwood floors, screened windows, and a private porch with hammock. Approximately 419 sq ft.

The flagship cabin at the lodge. Spacious and private, with vaulted ceilings, rustic stone accents, rich hardwood floors, and handcrafted furniture. The private screened porch comes with a hammock and rainforest views. These are 6 units in total (labeled Deluxe 5, 6, 11, 18, 19, 20).

Led by specialist guide Olbin Bejarano, the lodge offers full birding packages (5-night minimum) including daily guided excursions, entrance fees to reserves and parks, use of observation towers, trails, and facilities. 187 species on the lodge property; 400+ across the national park. The lodge is partnered with BirdLife International and Motus.org.
Guided walks through primary and secondary rainforest trails starting directly from the lodge. Passes three observation towers with wildlife-spotting opportunities. Ideal for birdwatching and observing small mammals. Complimentary for guests.
Naturalist-guided nighttime adventure to discover nocturnal wildlife — tree frogs, kinkajous, bats, possums, spiders, beetles, and moths. Uses flashlights, starts at 7:00 PM and runs 1.5–2 hours. Wear long pants and comfortable shoes. Extra charge applies.
For experienced hikers — the trail pushes through secondary forest and coffee plantations into the dense primary jungle of Pico Bonito National Park. The destination is a 100-foot double-drop waterfall with a natural swimming pool at the base. Moderate to difficult. Bring sturdy shoes, long pants, and a swimsuit. Extra charge applies.
World-class whitewater rafting on the Rio Cangrejal, just outside the park. The 20-mile river runs Class II to Class IV rapids, flowing from deep within the rainforest to the Caribbean coast. Kayaks available for experienced paddlers. Arranged through the lodge's activities desk. River runs highest September through February.
Yoga available on the dedicated yoga platform on the property grounds.
