The Loutrel is a 50-room luxury boutique hotel that opened in late 2021 in Charleston's French Quarter, right on State Street. It's a new build designed by Michael Graves Architecture, but it holds its own against the Georgian facades surrounding it — the interiors blend throwback elegance with 21st-century boutique-hotel style, all wrapped in a lush, biophilic design inspired by the city's iconic private gardens. Think: a porch-inspired lobby with a repurposed Southern swing, a bronze-and-wood bar, and verdant greenery everywhere you look. The Veranda Lounge and guest-only rooftop terrace are genuine draws, and the complimentary perks stack up fast.

The step-up pick. Corner position means more windows and wraparound views — some face the Ravenel Bridge, others look toward Charleston Harbor. Notably more light than standard kings. Same luxury amenities as all rooms, with a more spacious feel thanks to the corner layout.

The entry-level room at The Loutrel, and already a solid package. Garden-inspired decor in blues and grays, Matouk Damiano Percale sheets, live botanicals on the sill, and a complimentary minibar stocked with local snacks. Bathrooms have glass-enclosed walk-in showers and Matouk robes. Many rooms have Juliet balconies.
