The Lygon Arms is a Grade II* listed coaching inn on the main High Street of Broadway — the Cotswolds village that everyone seems to end up in eventually. The building dates to the 14th century (first written record 1377), and King Charles I slept here before heading into the Civil War. Oliver Cromwell did the same before the Battle of Worcester in 1651. Today the 86-room hotel balances that extraordinary historical weight with a proper spa, celebrity-chef dining from James Martin, and three acres of private gardens. It's old England done seriously well, without the stuffiness.

Charles I Suite
The most storied room in the hotel — and possibly in the Cotswolds. King Charles I stayed here before battle in the 1640s during the English Civil War. Expect serious period grandeur: the kind of room that makes you feel the weight of history. Comes with a double sofa-bed, making it suitable for families.
Cottage Classic Room
Traditionally furnished with antiques in a charming thatched cottage just a short stroll from the hotel. Four rooms in total, set within the walled garden. The cottage is the romantic English country dream.
