The Maybourne Riviera sits in the same stable as Claridge's and The Connaught — so you know the service is going to be serious — but this property has its own distinct drama. Designed by architect Jean-Michel Wilmotte, it looks less like a grand hotel and more like a spaceship that couldn't quite lift off. Every one of its 65 suites and studios faces the sea, views stretch from Cap Martin east to Italy and west to Monaco, and the sunset from the infinity pool is frankly unreasonable.
