Why It Matters
One of only a small number of resorts permitted to operate inside West Bali National Park. The Bali Tower — a five-huge-log structure climbing above the tree line — is unlike anything else in Bali. Menjangan Island's coral reefs, a short boat ride away, are among the best snorkeling and diving in all of Indonesia. The Menjangan sits on 382 hectares inside West Bali National Park — that's the largest resort footprint within the park's boundaries. It's on the island's quiet northwestern coast, about four hours from the Denpasar airport, which is part of the whole point. No shopping, no nightlife, no traffic noise. Just forest, a private beach on Sentigi Bay, and a serious commitment to doing as little damage to the surroundings as possible. Think deer at breakfast, kingfishers in the mangroves, and the rare Bali Starling spotted from the pool.

Beach Villa
The most sought-after rooms at the resort. Built in traditional Javanese Joglo style — a distinctive peaked roof structure — these villas sit directly on Sentigi Beach. Step off the deck and you're on the sand. Large four-poster bed, expansive picture windows with sea views, and both indoor and outdoor bathrooms (including a deep soaking tub outdoors). Bean bags on the deck, beach chairs in the courtyard, and waves a few feet away. The hotel itself says the Beach Villa is its most popular category, and guests consistently agree.
Monsoon Deluxe Room
14 rooms arranged around an idyllic pool and hot tub in the Monsoon Lodge, deep in the national park forest.
