New Yorker Hotel
Industrial-chic design hotel with an art-forward sensibility. Raw brick, oak parquet, bold color accents. No two rooms are identical. The energy is creative and independent rather than corporate-polished.

Why It Matters
Designed and owned by architect Johannes J. Adams, the hotel is part of a privately managed Cologne hospitality group with a clear design identity. The event spaces — including a 250 sqm Loft with a grand piano and open fireplace — are genuinely impressive, and the hotel regularly hosts cultural events. It has been a Tablet Hotels pick for years.
A privately-owned design hotel in Cologne's industrial Mülheim quarter, right next to the trade fair. Owner and architect Johannes J. Adams designed the whole thing himself — 40 rooms, each with its own character, spread across four categories with coordinated color palettes and custom furniture. The public spaces and event venues are just as considered as the rooms, making this as much a cultural venue as a place to sleep.
