Why It Matters
Named to Travel + Leisure's 2026 It List. Winner of CoStar Impact Award for Commercial Development of the Year in Charleston, 2026. First new Charleston hotel from acclaimed New York architect Morris Adjmi — whose facade pays tribute to the city's layered architectural history while remaining unmistakably contemporary. The rooftop lounge, Rosemary Rose, has become a draw for locals and guests alike.
The Nickel Hotel opened in June 2025 as Method Co.'s second Charleston property — twice the size of sibling hotel The Pinch, at a still-manageable 50 rooms. Morris Adjmi Architects gutted a former furniture store and built something that looks, from the outside, like a historic European townhouse, while inside the vibe shifts to a residential Charleston home: checkered marble lobby floors, Moroccan-inspired plaster arches, and a central courtyard ringed by three stories of wrought-iron balconies. Every room — from the smallest studio to the 1,570 sq ft three-bedroom penthouse — comes with a full kitchen, washer/dryer, and curated minibar stocked with local finds like tallboys from Edmund's Oast brewery.
