Why It Matters
One of the oldest and most storied luxury resorts in the Caribbean, operating since 1962. Featured in two James Bond films (Casino Royale). Home to DUNE by Jean-Georges, one of the region's landmark restaurants. Guests get complimentary access to Atlantis Paradise Island's massive Aquaventure water park. The 12th-century Augustinian Cloister on the property — reassembled stone by stone from France — is genuinely remarkable.
The Ocean Club has been throwing the best parties in the Bahamas since 1962, when Huntington Hartford inaugurated it with Sinatra, Elvis, and enough royalty to fill a palace. Today it's a Four Seasons property — 107 rooms and villas spread across 35 acres of Versailles-inspired gardens on Paradise Island's prime white-sand beach. The champagne-and-strawberries-at-sunset ritual is still going strong, DUNE by Jean-Georges is one of the best tables in the Caribbean, and the three-pool setup (adults-only Versailles Pool, family lagoon pool, infinity Ocean Pool) genuinely earns its reputation. It was also the backdrop for Casino Royale.
