The Palmetto opened in March 2023 in Charleston's French Quarter, occupying a building literally constructed atop the remains of the city's original colonial-era wall. It's a 45-room boutique property that wears Charleston's history on its sleeve — vintage black-and-white party photos, antiques reupholstered in Lowcountry motifs, original early 1900s artwork next to custom contemporary pieces — without feeling like a museum. The lobby doubles as a proper living room, and the ethos here is warm Southern hospitality over cool-hotel posturing.

The entry-level room, and still quite well done. Custom-curated artwork, king bed with plush linens, and Bamford toiletries. Compact at 300 sq ft, so if you spend a lot of time in the room you may feel it. An accessible option is available in this category.
King
Deluxe King Balcony
Same footprint as the Deluxe King but with French doors opening onto a Juliet balcony — the defining upgrade. Natural light pours in, and the Charleston salt air is a genuine perk. A comfy seating area makes the 300 sq ft feel less tight. Accessible option available.
King
Penthouse
A whole different category. 1,000 sq ft of interior space plus a 500 sq ft private balcony with chaise lounges and outdoor dining furniture. Floor-to-ceiling windows, a sectional sofa in the living room, panoramic downtown skyline views. Extras include a Bose Bluetooth speaker, workout equipment, and a full suite of Dyson hair tools. The hotel uses this suite for milestone celebrations — Hall's Chophouse can be arranged to serve a private 3-course dinner on the balcony.
KingPremium King Balcony
The sweet spot for most guests. At 360 sq ft it has real breathing room, a Juliet balcony overlooking the Charleston skyline and church steeples, and the full luxury amenity package. Sipping morning coffee on the balcony while counting Holy City steeples is exactly what this room is for.
KingSuperior King
Steps up in size to 325 sq ft and adds an inviting seating nook — a meaningful difference if you want space to spread out after a day of walking. Thoughtfully curated art throughout. All the standard luxury touches apply.

Custom branded bicycles are available to all guests at no charge. Great for riding along the waterfront to the Pineapple Fountain, exploring Rainbow Row, or cruising King Street. Bikes come with baskets.
