The Peninsula Boutique & Café on Grosvenor Crescent is open to the public and gets queues — arrive early for the pastries.

Why It Matters

London's first purpose-built five-star hotel in over a decade, built at a cost exceeding £1 billion. Its rooftop restaurant Brooklands by Claude Bosi earned two Michelin stars in its debut year — the fastest a UK restaurant has ever achieved that distinction. The hotel is also The Peninsula's first property in Europe.

The Peninsula London opened in September 2023 as the city's first billion-pound new-build hotel in over a decade — 30-plus years in the making for the iconic Hong Kong brand. Sitting squarely between Hyde Park and Buckingham Palace at Hyde Park Corner, it's designed by Hopkins Architects to read as distinctly British despite being a wholly modern structure. Inside, Peter Marino's interiors blend contemporary Asian accents with creamy English country-house comfort, and the result is polished but not stiff.

Where You'll Stay

6 room types available

Arch Suite
Suite

Arch Suite

Named for its direct sightline to Wellington Arch. Situated on the 5th floor, this 2,024 sq ft suite has Juliet balconies, a fireplace, abundant living and dressing rooms, and views over both the Arch and the hotel's lushly landscaped inner courtyard — best of both worlds. Tasteful hand-tufted carpets, richly coloured fabrics and curated artworks and objets d'art round out what feels like a plush, quintessentially British apartment.

Deluxe Room
Standard Room

Deluxe Room

The entry category, and still a genuine surprise: these rooms clock in at roughly 549–600 sq ft, which would qualify as a suite at plenty of Mayfair competitors. Peter Marino's interiors layer contemporary Asian textiles over creamy English comfort — stone tables, dark-grain wood, cosy sofas, original art from Royal Drawing School artists. Marble and honey onyx bathrooms feature freestanding tubs with integrated TV, separate rain showers, dual basins and heated floors. Mahogany-paneled dressing room with raised luggage racks, valet box and (discreetly hidden) nail dryer. Bedside tablets control drapes, lights, thermostat and television. Choose between courtyard views (quieter) or Wellington Arch-facing (more scenic by day, noisier at night).

Penthouse Suite

The Peninsula Suite

London's largest hotel accommodation, and not by a small margin. The one-bedroom, 5,059 sq ft suite occupies the 6th floor with a sweeping private terrace overlooking Hyde Park Corner. Its living room has a fireplace and a baby grand piano; there's also a formal dining room and private screening room that seats 13. The suite has its own dedicated private elevator and a private gym. Serious spec: it can also be interconnected with up to seven additional rooms to create a nearly 16,000 sq ft private apartment. The most ambitious accommodation in London.
