Book L'Oiseau Blanc well in advance — it's small and fills up fast, especially at dinner

Why It Matters

The building has witnessed real history: George Gershwin reportedly composed An American in Paris here in the 1920s, Marcel Proust was a regular, and the salon now known as Le Bar Kléber was the setting where Henry Kissinger negotiated the Paris Peace Accords in 1973. The hotel also operates the largest luxury hotel spa in Paris and its fleet of signature Peninsula-green Rolls-Royces are recognizable across the 16th arrondissement.

Built in 1908 as the Hotel Majestic and reopened as The Peninsula in August 2014 after a four-year, multi-million dollar restoration, this six-story Haussmannian landmark occupies an entire city block on Avenue Kléber, directly between the Arc de Triomphe and the Trocadéro. Its 10,000 sqm façade was hand-restored by 20 expert stonemasons, and the white marble lobby centers on the 'Dancing Leaves' installation — 800 hand-blown glass and crystal leaves suspended mid-air. The hotel holds 'Distinction Palace' status, Paris's highest hotel classification, and its rooftop restaurant L'Oiseau Blanc has held two Michelin stars for five consecutive years.
