Why It Matters
El Paso's only MICHELIN One Key hotel. #1 ranked hotel in El Paso by US News 2026. Originally Conrad Hilton's first high-rise (1930); Elizabeth Taylor lived on the 17th floor during filming of 'Giant'. Hosts the largest agave spirits collection in Texas (1,100+ bottles) at Ámbar. Highest outdoor viewpoint in El Paso at La Perla rooftop bar.
A 19-story Art Deco landmark opened in 1930 as Conrad Hilton's first high-rise, fully restored and reopened in 2020 as El Paso's only MICHELIN Key hotel. The word 'PLAZA' still glows in red letters from the top. Elizabeth Taylor lived in what's now the rooftop bar while filming 'Giant' (1956), and the hotel leans hard into that cinematic legacy — channel-tufted headboards, Matouk linens, Caffe Bruno marble, and an art collection spanning local and regional artists. Downtown El Paso is walkable, the border with Juárez is eight blocks away, and sunsets from the 17th floor cover two countries and three cities.

How you'll actually spend your days.
With over 1,100 tequilas, mezcals, bacanoras, and sotols at Ámbar's bar — second largest collection in Texas — this is a serious spirits destination. Bartenders can walk you through rare and regional agave expressions from both sides of the border.
The hotel sits in Las Plazas arts district, steps from San Jacinto Plaza, the El Paso Museum of Art, the Plaza Theatre, and murals depicting the city's Latino and Native American culture. Everything is walkable.
On-demand and live fitness classes available through hotel accounts on Mirror (yoga, boxing, HIIT, and more) and Peloton bikes in the 24-hour fitness studio.
The hotel is only 8–10 blocks from the international bridge connecting El Paso to Ciudad Juárez, Mexico. Hotel concierge can advise on the crossing. Bring your passport.
Live jazz performances every Thursday evening with dinner service. Weekend brunch (Saturday and Sunday) also features live jazz and world music. A genuine local music scene, not a hotel novelty act.
Friday nights feature house jazz and world music on the rooftop. Saturday nights bring a DJ set against the backdrop of the El Paso city lights.
360-degree virtual tours of the property and La Perla rooftop available online via Visiting Media platform.
