Why It Matters

Portland's first boutique lifestyle hotel; 2016 Condé Nast Traveler Hot List winner; LEED certified; only Portland hotel with a dedicated rotating art gallery; housed in a genuine historic landmark building.

The Press Hotel opened in 2015 inside the former Gannett Building — once the headquarters of the Portland Press Herald, Maine's largest newspaper. The journalism concept is executed with real commitment: a two-story SWARM typewriter installation anchors the lobby, Press Herald headlines paper the hallways, and every room comes with a vintage journalist desk. Portland's first and only boutique lifestyle hotel, it's LEED certified and the only hotel in the city with a dedicated art gallery that rotates exhibitions by local Maine artists. Part of Marriott's Autograph Collection, so Bonvoy points apply.
