Why It Matters

Opened fall 2023 and quickly earned TIME Magazine's World's Greatest Places 2025 and USA Today's #2 Best New Hotel. It holds a Michelin Guide recommendation for Golden Hour restaurant. First and only boutique hotel in the River Arts District, and the only place in the RAD with a riverfront rooftop bar.

The Radical lives inside a 1923 cereal factory — later a Cold War bomb shelter — on the banks of the French Broad River in Asheville's River Arts District. The building had been abandoned and covered in graffiti, and instead of painting over it, the owners hired local muralist Ian Wilkinson and a crew of artists to run with it. The result is 200+ original artworks across 70 rooms and every common space, paired with marble bathrooms, canopy beds, and a James Beard–nominated chef running three food and drink concepts under the same roof.
