Insider Tip
1/5

A daily destination fee (ISK 7,000) is added at checkout but covers spa access (normally ISK 4,350), a welcome drink, and a dining credit — use all of it and it more than pays for itself.

Why It Matters

The first five-star hotel in Reykjavik, designed by Ian Schrager, with the Michelin Guide-recommended Tides restaurant helmed by chef Gunnar Karl Gíslason. The EDITION brand's distinctive 'social spa' concept — a spa that doubles as a pre-party pampering spot with its own cocktail bar — is a genuine first for the city. Also the only hotel in Reykjavik with a dedicated 7th-floor rooftop bar with Northern Lights views in winter.

The Reykjavik EDITION is Iceland's first and only true five-star city hotel — and it arrived with serious intent. Designed by Ian Schrager, the 253-room property sits right on the Old Harbour, next door to Harpa Concert Hall, with views across Faxaflói Bay toward Mt. Esja. The interiors lean into a muted Nordic palette: ash wood, pale grey oak, copper sconces, faux fur rugs, and handmade Italian ceramic tiles — cozy without being cliché. The dining and nightlife lineup is genuinely strong, anchored by Tides, the Michelin Guide-recommended seafood restaurant, and a 7th-floor rooftop bar that earns its place among the city's best perches.

Connecting Family Rooms

Two connecting guest rooms — the practical option for families. Same standard finishes as the rest of the floor.

Corner Suite
Suite

Corner Suite

The standout suite below the Penthouse. Corner positioning means wraparound floor-to-ceiling views of the harbour and ocean strip. Separate living and sleeping areas, dining nook, and an oversized soaking tub. The Ocean View Corner Suite version delivers genuinely spectacular vistas.

Deluxe Double Queen

The best non-suite option for two guests wanting their own beds. Harbour views, the same bespoke finishes throughout — the Danish-meets-Icelandic aesthetic is cohesive across every category.

Deluxe King

Elevated positioning in the building with harbour views. Same design language as the rest of the floor — warm wood tones, copper details, rainfall shower — but more desirable floor or view category than the Superior.

Guest Double Queen

Two double beds and harbour views. Slightly larger than the Guest King and a better bet for two guests who want their own sleeping space. Same finishes throughout: ash wood, copper, Italian ceramic tiles, Le Labo, B&O speaker.

Guest King

The entry-level room — and yes, 26-28 sqm is compact for a five-star. Courtyard view rather than harbour. That said, the finishes punch above their weight: ash wood palette, faux fur rug, copper light sconces, Italian-made ceramic tiles in the mosaic bathroom, enclosed rainfall shower, and custom Le Labo amenities. B&O Beoplay Bluetooth speaker, 55-inch Smart TV with Chromecast. No bathtub.

Loft King

Loft King

A split-level loft layout with a separate living area — more residential feel than the standard rooms. The two-floor design gives it a sense of volume that the compact standard rooms lack. Good option before committing to suite prices.

One of a kind. 128 sqm on the 6th floor with its own private terrace, a central fireplace in the living room, a dining area that seats 10, a second guest bathroom, and unobstructed views of the harbour and Mt. Superior King

A step up from the Guest King — slightly more space, better position in the building with harbour or city views. Still the same Nordic-modernist design DNA: ash wood, faux fur rug, Italian ceramic bathroom.

Actually slightly smaller than the Guest King at 25 sqm, but the private outdoor terrace with a dining table and sofa is a genuine trade-up. Worth it if you want outdoor space. Rare in a city hotel at this latitude.
