The Ritz-Carlton Montreal
Old World European grandeur meets modern tech: marble fireplaces, crystal chandeliers, and TOTO smart toilets all coexist. Formal without feeling stuffy. Very much a social hotel — the Palm Court and Maison Boulud draw Montreal's power lunch set as much as hotel guests.

Why It Matters
The second Ritz-Carlton ever built, sole AAA Five Diamond property in Quebec, home to the only Dom Pérignon bar in North America, and the venue where Afternoon Tea has been served continuously since 1913. The Royal Suite is the largest hotel suite in Montreal at 4,700 sq ft.
Opened in 1912, The Ritz-Carlton Montreal is the only AAA Five Diamond hotel in Quebec and the second property ever to carry the Ritz-Carlton name. After a $200 million renovation, it still holds court on Sherbrooke Street in the Golden Square Mile with the Palm Court largely intact from its original 1912 construction. The guest list over 110+ years has included Winston Churchill, Queen Elizabeth II, Douglas Fairbanks, and John Travolta — not that the current crowd is any less impressive.
