The Ritz-Carlton Residences, Waikiki Beach
Residential luxury. Feels more like a very well-staffed private apartment than a hotel. Sleek, contemporary interiors. Calm energy. No resort-lobby chaos.
Sushi Sho has 16 seats and is booked via Tock — reserve weeks or months in advance, not the night before
Why It Matters
Voted #1 Hotel in Hawaii in Condé Nast Traveler's Readers' Choice Awards 2025. Oahu's first Ritz-Carlton, and the island's largest collection of luxury suites (246 of them). Home to Sushi Sho — a 16-seat omakase counter led by the legendary Keiji Nakazawa, one of the most coveted sushi reservations in all of Hawaii. Also the first hotel in Hawaii with under-sink water purification in every room. No resort fee.
Two towers planted at the quieter gateway end of Waikiki — the lobby, pools, and restaurants all sit on the 8th floor, which means no sidewalk foot traffic, no crowded hotel bars spilling onto the street, and a calm that's genuinely rare for this neighborhood. All 552 units are individually owned residences, so even the most basic king room comes with a full kitchen or kitchenette, washer/dryer, and real living space. The beach is a 5-10 minute walk, which some guests consider a downside and others treat as a feature.
