The Ryder is a 91-room midcentury-inspired boutique hotel on Meeting Street that opened in 2021 after a full gut renovation of the 1958 King Charles Hotel. The design runs earthy reds, organic hues, rattan accents, and whimsical coastal art — a deliberate contrast to Charleston's antebellum grandeur that somehow fits right in. The pool deck is the social heart of the property: a heated, retro-shaped splash with pastel gingham parasols, marshmallow loungers, and Little Palm's tropical cocktails on demand.

The sweet spot for guests who want outdoor space without splurging on a suite. At 312 square feet with a private balcony overlooking The Backyard at Little Palm, you get front-row access to the tropical garden and fire scene below. Sip your morning coffee or catch golden hour from your own terrace.
KingDouble Queen Room
At 276 square feet, this is the move for two friends or families. Two queens, coastal-calm design, and accessible room options available. The fun of two beds, as they put it, is deciding which one to actually sleep in.
Two QueensHospitality Suite
The biggest room in the house at 1,045 square feet, and it earns the space. One bedroom, two bathrooms (including a powder bath), a full kitchenette, dining room, living area, and a private balcony with pool views. The master bathroom alone is a destination: freestanding tub, oversized rainfall shower, and a double vanity. Best for extended stays or groups wanting an entertainment base.
KingJunior King Suite
Floor-to-ceiling windows and Meeting Street views make this feel larger than its 323 square feet. Ten-foot ceilings, a spacious sitting area, plush robes, a writer's desk, and a walk-in shower. A step up in feel if not dramatically in size.
KingKing Room
The entry-level room and the most intimate in the house at 190 square feet. Good for solo travelers or couples who plan to spend their time out exploring, not lounging in the room. Has a walk-in shower, writer's desk, plush linens, and cozy robes. Everything you need, nothing you don't.
KingPremier King Room
Same footprint as the Double Queen but in a single king configuration with some extra breathing room. Can accommodate a rollaway bed on request. ADA-accessible version available. A solid mid-tier pick for couples who want space.
KingStudio Suite
At 506 square feet, this is where you come when you actually want to stay in. Muted coastal hues, cozy lounge furniture, and the standout feature: a freestanding soaking tub. One of two room categories with a freestanding tub, the Studio is the top pick for longer stays.
