The Siren Hotel
Italian Renaissance Revival glamour layered with retro-modern restraint. Think velvet, chandeliers, and pink marble — not industrial steel. The vibe is theatrical but self-aware, with intentional partnerships with local barbers, record stores, and artists woven into the DNA of the place.

Why It Matters
The Siren is the most significant adaptive reuse hospitality project in downtown Detroit's ongoing revival. The Wurlitzer Building — once 'the World's largest music house' — was days from demolition when ASH NYC stepped in. The building's narrow 13-story footprint produces an unusually diverse room portfolio, from 150 sq ft bunk-bed hideouts to 450 sq ft penthouse duplex suites with skyline views over Comerica Park.
The Siren occupies the landmarked 13-story Wurlitzer Building — opened in 1926, vacant and shedding bricks for decades, and rescued from demolition by Brooklyn design firm ASH NYC. The Italian Renaissance Revival bones of the building do the heavy lifting aesthetically: swaged velvets, grandiose antiques, heavyweight chandeliers, and a cocktail bar pinker than a fever dream of the Roaring Twenties. Rooms pull back slightly from all that drama with a more spare retro-modern take, dressed in custom Italian linens, hand-loomed blankets, and terrazzo-tiled bathrooms. The real draw is the ground floor ecosystem — coffee in the lobby, a lauded cocktail lounge behind velvet curtains, a wine bar with no reservations, and a piano karaoke bar that opens Wednesday through Saturday.
