The St. Regis Kuala Lumpur
Old-money grandeur meets big-city luxury. Art-forward, leather-and-crystal interiors, formal butler service for every guest, and a dining lineup that includes a 3-Michelin-star Tokyo chef's first outpost outside Japan. This is unapologetically lavish, not boutique-intimate.
Request a Lake Gardens-facing room for the best view — city-side rooms look into the KL Sentral office cluster, which is far less scenic.
Why It Matters
Claims several genuine world firsts: the first hotel outside Tokyo to house a restaurant from 3-Michelin-star chef Takashi Saito (Taka by Sushi Saito), the first KL hotel spa to offer LPG Endermologie, and the only hotel in the city with an outdoor LED screen at the pool. The art collection — Botero, Mark Evans leather murals, Barnaby Hosking's Birds and Butterflies — is serious, not decorative filler. Suites at the top tier (Royal and Presidential) include dedicated security rooms and his-and-hers bathrooms at 353 sqm each.
The St. Regis Kuala Lumpur is a 48-storey tower in the KL Sentral district, and it does not shy away from the grand statement. A Fernando Botero bronze horse dominates the lobby. Every room comes with a walk-in wardrobe and a minibar styled as a vintage travel trunk. The rooms are — genuinely — the largest standard-category guest rooms in the city, starting at 63 sqm, which makes competitors feel cramped by comparison. Seven restaurants and bars means you could eat and drink here for a week without repeating yourself.

How you'll actually spend your days.
A butler-guided tour of the hotel's curated private art collection, which includes Fernando Botero's monumental horse sculpture, Mark Evans leather murals depicting a polo charge, and Barnaby Hosking's three-dimensional Birds and Butterflies installation inspired by the nearby Lake Gardens. More substantive than a typical hotel art walk.
The butler team can arrange a bespoke picnic in the Perdana Botanical Gardens — the 130-year-old Lake Gardens directly beside the hotel. Chefs prepare the food, butlers handle logistics. A genuinely unusual in-city experience.
The signature St. Regis tea service held daily in The Drawing Room beneath the crystal chandelier and Botero horse. A rotating selection of pastries, finger sandwiches, and scones. Advance reservations strongly recommended.
Dedicated kids' space with butler-led activities tailored to younger guests. Entry at MYR 80 net per child. Open Mon–Thu 3pm–5pm, Fri–Sun 10am–6am. Activities spark curiosity and keep young guests genuinely entertained rather than just occupied.
Every evening at dusk, the St. Regis hosts its iconic Violet Hour — the theatrical sabering of a champagne bottle in the lobby bar, timed with the sky turning violet. A long-standing St. Regis brand ritual.
